Made In Hackney stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

As a community cookery school we stand in solidarity with our black community members – teachers, staff, board members, volunteers, participants, partners, friends and family.

We recognise the urgent need for systemic and structural change. We recognise not being racist is not enough. We recognise the many ways the black community are being failed by wellbeing and health services. We recognise there is much work to be done – both externally and within our organisation – to eradicate structural and systemic racism.

As an organisation we commit to change. We commit to doing better.

Over the coming weeks Made In Hackney will engage in training and deep reflection to create a Plan For Change to ensure our organisations actions reflect its intentions. We will publish this plan here.

Black Lives Matter is not just a trending hashtag. It’s an urgent call for change.

We commit to being part of this change.
