The Event

We'll make a delicious curry, flatbreads, a traditional pickle, dairy-free lassi, and a classic dessert to complete your authentic Gujarati experience." The class will include:

  • The A-Z of curry making, spice combinations and how to cook rice, lentils and pulses
  • How to make Ringra no oro, a traditional roasted aubergine Gujarati curry
  • Make an oil-/ghee-free version of the traditional Khichdi (made with rice and split mung beans)
  • Techniques to make a traditional Carrot & chilli pickle
  • How to prepare a vegan version of the refreshing savoury Lassi drink
  • How to make a vegan version of Shrikhand - a classic Gujarati dessert
  • How to make the perfect millet flat bread
  • How to combine herbs and spices to create great flavours
  • How to make a delicious snack using leftovers
  • Learn different methods of cooking (roasting, steaming and pan-frying)
  • Opportunity to ask Nishma questions

We do our utmost to keep you safe at our venue. You will have your own set of equipment at your own socially-distanced workstation with your own hand sanitizer. We take the temperature of all guests on arrival, our staff wear clear masks and visors, and our venue is well ventilated. 

ALLERGEN ALERT 

Made In Hackney uses cereals containing gluten namely: wheat (spelt and khorasan wheat), rye, barley, oats; peanuts; all other nuts; sesame; all other seeds; soybeans; celery and celeriac; mustard; sulphur dioxide/sulphites; lupin; tomatoes and other allergens in it's classes. Our food is freshly prepared in our busy cookery school kitchen that handles allergens, so we cannot guarantee that our food and drinks are allergen-free. Even in classes where these ingredients are not being used, they will be on site in our store rooms and our equipment will have previously come into contact with them. Participants attend at their own risk.
