About Zoe Marks
Zoe Marks is a plant-based chef and cookery teacher. A lifelong vegetarian, she first learned to cook from her mum and grandma, with meals being at the heart of family gatherings. She has a cordon vert diploma with the vegetarian society. It was through delivering classes for Made In Hackney that she was inspired to go fully vegan.
Zoe has delivered food education and community food projects in a variety of settings, including charities and a primary school. She enjoys celebrating cuisines from around the world, bringing a more sustainable focus to plant-based cooking, while also highlighting its nutritional benefits.
For several years, she ran a regular day at the Bonnington Café — a collectively run vegetarian restaurant in Vauxhall, South London. She also spent four months in Ithaca, Greece, working as a retreat chef, where she deepened her appreciation of cooking seasonally.
Zoe loves leading classes for Made In Hackney because of the diversity of people and cultures the sessions attract, and the sense of community that naturally forms when people cook together.
