Bath Bombs

Bath Bombs

A perfect homemade present is a bath bomb, would love to see a little bundle of these under my tree this year.

Ingredients

for 5 medium size (100g) bath bombs

Dry ingredients:

200g baking soda

100g citric acid

100 g corn starch

100g salts (sea salts, Epsom salts or dead sea salt)

Wet ingredients:

2.5 tablespoon oil (any base oil like olive, sunflower sweet almond and rapeseed will work)

1teaspoon/ 5ml of sweet orange essential oil

Method

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together VERY WELL – for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Mix all the wet ingredients together in another container
  3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry, mixing thoroughly with your hands. You want a wet sand consistency that will stick together
  4. When your batch sticks together when squished, you need to start putting it in moulds. If you wait too long, the mixture will get hard
  5. Let to dry overnight and pack the next day (if you live in a humid environment, the bath fiz might start to fizz out so make sure you pack it in an airtight plastic bag).

Bath bombs variations

Fresh herb bomb : Add a tablespoon of dried tyme leaves in the dry ingredients , swap orange essential oil for 1 tablespoon of thyme essential oil.

Flower bomb : put flower petals instead among dry ingredients (example : rose petals  - need to be dried first, pot marigold, chamomile flowers are all great). Alternatively you can put a whole flower in the centre of your bomb when mouding it.

Swap the orange essential oil for a flower essential oil : rose, Geranium Rosat, ylang ylang, etc…

Angel sleep : Use lavender flowers and lavender essential oils for a good night sleep after your bath.
