This super useful healing salve can be applied to cuts, insect bites, stings, nappy rash (if using cloth nappies only with liners) and other wounds.
1 cup olive or almond oil
1 cup marigold oil
¼ cup soy wax
2 tablespoons comfrey leaf
2 tablespoons plaintain leaf
1 tablespoon of calendula flowers
1 teaspoon of echinacea root
1 teaspoon of yarrow flowers
1 teaspoon of rosemary leaf
½ teaspoon of grapefruit seed extract or Vitamin E oil (to preserve)
1: Mix all herbs together
2: Infuse the herbs into the oil. You can do this by mixing the herbs and cold oil in a jar and leaving for 3-4 days, or, heating on low heat for 3 hours
3: Strain the herbs from the oil using a cheese cloth
4: Discard herbs in compost bin
5: On a low heat use a bain-marie (a heat proof glass bowl over a pan with hot water in it is fine) to melt the soy wax into the herb infused oil
6: Once all soy wax has melted and is invisible, turn off heat and leave to cool for 2-3 minutes
7: Decant into glass cosmetics jars and as the oil cools it will set and change colour
8: Once set and no longer hot screw lid onto container
9: Use on cuts, bites, stings, nappy rash (but not with cloth nappies unless using a liner) and other wounds as needed
