We’re thrilled to welcome Tim Cook as our new Executive Director at Made In Hackney! Joining us this April, Tim brings a wealth of experience in leadership, sustainability, and community engagement; making him the perfect person to guide our organisation into an exciting new chapter.

Driven by a passion for positive social change, Tim has held senior leadership and management roles across the charity sector. He studied at Queen Mary, University of London, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before beginning his career in fundraising at the De La Warr Pavilion. He has since worked at leading organisations such as Somerset House, Sadler’s Wells, and One Dance UK, focusing on income generation to expand programmes and strengthen organisational capacity. Most recently, at Music Masters, he developed an innovative fundraising strategy that increased the charity’s income to record levels for consecutive years.

Tim is deeply committed to food justice and environmental sustainability. His expertise in strategic growth, partnership building, and programme development will be instrumental in advancing Made In Hackney ’s mission to provide access to nutritious, plant-based food for all.

Beyond his career in the third sector, Tim is a published playwright and has mentored hundreds of writers across the UK. He founded Broken Silence Theatre, a multi-award-winning company dedicated to amplifying the voices of underrepresented writers. He also chairs the Development Committee at Pegasus Opera Company, which creates opportunities for artists of Global Majority heritage.

Tim is passionate about building a sustainable planet and tackling food injustice. He is honoured to step into the role of Executive Director and is energised by Made In Hackney’s mission to bring communities together through the power of plants. He is committed to ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food that meets their needs and preferences.

Under Tim’s leadership, we aim to expand our community initiatives, develop innovative services, and deepen our impact. His vision aligns with our core values of inclusivity, sustainability, and empowerment, ensuring that Made In Hackney remains a leader in food education and social change.

Please join us in giving Tim a warm welcome as he embarks on this exciting journey with us!
